Tysondog

Tysondog are a heavy metal band from Newcastle upon Tyne, formed in 1983 during the NWOBHM period. The group remains active and has continued to tour over the years.

Early releases

Tysondog sign to Neat Records soon after forming and issue their debut single, Eat the Rich, in 1983. Their first album, Beware of the Dog, follows in 1984. It is produced by Cronos of Venom, who also provides backing vocals on the track Demon.

1980s work

In 1985, Tysondog release the EP Shoot to Kill. The following year they put out Crimes of Insanity, an album that also includes the single and an Alice Cooper cover of School's Out. No new full-length album appears after 1986, although the band stays together and continues performing.

Later releases and line-up

Castle releases Painted Heroes in 2002, a compilation drawing together both full-length albums and the Shoot to Kill EP. The band later issues an EP called Hammerhead, available in download and CD form. The line-up includes original members Kev Wynn on bass, Al Hunter on guitar and vocals, Paul Burdis on lead guitar, and John Carruthers on vocals. Rob Walker serves as a long-running drummer before leaving due to personal commitments, and former Blitzkrieg drummer Phil Brewis takes over on drums.
