Two Hours Traffic

Two Hours Traffic is an indie rock and indie pop group from Charlottetown, Canada. The band forms in 2000 and remains active until 2013. It begins as a two-piece built around singer Liam Corcoran and guitarist Alec O’Hanley, who later recruit bassist Andrew MacDonald and drummer Derek Ellis while studying at university in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.

The band’s early release is the April Storm EP, issued in 2003. After that, they form a working relationship with Halifax musician and producer Joel Plaskett, who produces the band’s first full-length album and continues to work with them. Their self-titled debut and the Isolator EP receive a positive critical response, but the wider breakthrough comes with Little Jabs in 2007.

Little Jabs receives broad critical attention, appears on many year-end lists, and is a finalist for the Polaris Music Prize. It also wins an East Coast Music Award for Best Pop Recording. The follow-up album Territory continues the band’s melodic, harmony-led style while also introducing darker themes, with songs such as “Noisemaker,” the title track, “Weightless One,” “Drop Alcohol,” “Wicked Side,” “Lost Boys,” “Happiness Burns,” and “Sing A Little Hymn.”

The band tours widely across Canada, including coast-to-coast tours, and plays festivals such as Hillside, CMJ, and SXSW, as well as shows in the Atlantic region. Alec O’Hanley later plays in Alvvays, while the group’s core line-up is Liam Corcoran, Alec O’Hanley, Andrew MacDonald, and Derek Ellis.
