Truckstop Honeymoon
Truckstop Honeymoon is a United States-based duo made up of Mike West and Katie West, also known as Katie Euliss. The group works in country, alt-country, indie and americana contexts, and is associated with female vocalists in its line-up and presentation.
Background
Katie West learns guitar, piano and bucket bass on the streets of New Orleans before meeting Mike West. Mike West performs as a banjo player and sells CDs as part of his act. Together they form a touring duo and travel through North America, Europe and Australia. Their wedding night takes place at the Tiger Truck Stop, between Lafayette and the Atchafalaya Swamp.
Releases and activity
The duo releases a series of CDs on Baton Rouge label Squirrel Records, along with a full-length documentary film. Their work appears in a wide range of live settings, including international folk festivals, rock clubs, neighbourhood bars, house concerts and hay barns, from Nebraska to Tasmania.
