Troumaca

Troumaca is a dub group from the United Kingdom, originally based in Birmingham. The band name comes from a West Indian village on the Caribbean island of St Vincent, and the name is pronounced “TRUH-MUH-KUH”.

The group consists of Geoffrey Foulkes, Samuel Baylis, Tom Gregory, James Nayak and Matthew Campbell.

Style and sound

Troumaca’s music is described as drawing on dub, soul and “bass escapism”, with Caribbean influence, soulful tempos, vocals and a distinct UK edge. The group is also associated with tropical, dub and dream pop.

Recordings

The group’s debut album is The Grace, issued on Brownswood Recordings. The album is preceded by the singles “Layou” and “Sanctify”.
