Treacherous Orchestra
Treacherous Orchestra is a Scottish Celtic fusion group from Scotland. It works with Scottish traditional music and combines it with folk, rock and punk influences. The group is a 12-piece line-up built around a range of acoustic and amplified instruments, including bagpipes, accordion, bodhrán, fiddle, tin whistle, guitars, bass and drums.
Formation and background
The band forms to play the Celtic Connections Festival Club in 2009. Its members come from a generation of musicians active across Scotland’s folk and world music scenes, and several of them play in other well-known Scottish folk and world acts.
Line-up
Treacherous Orchestra includes Ross Ainslie, Éamonn Coyne, Ali Hutton, Duncan Lyall, Kevin O'Neill, Martin O'Neill, Barry "Spad" Reid, John Somerville, Fraser Stone and Adam Sutherland, with Innes Watson also part of the group. The personnel listed with the band include John Somerville on accordion; Ross Ainslie and Ali Hutton on pipes and whistles; Kevin O'Neill on flutes and whistles; Adam Sutherland and Innes Watson on fiddle; Éamonn Coyne on banjo and mandolin; Barry "Spad" Reid on guitar; Fraser Stone on drums and percussion; Martin O'Neill on bodhrán and percussion; Duncan Lyall on double bass; and Michael Bryan on guitar.
Recognition
The group receives a nomination for the Scottish Album of the Year awards in 2015.
