Toyface

Toyface form in 2007 after Tamsyn and James meet by chance in the back of a broken-down traveller’s truck. Both come from the Bristol and Somerset area, and they begin writing and performing songs together soon afterwards.

The group’s songs start with lyrics and melodies from Tamsyn, with James building the piano parts and the rest of the band contributing around that framework. Their style is described as “old swing in a new style”, and Tamsyn’s writing moves between light, party-like songs and more thoughtful, emotional lyrics.
