Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs

Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs is the recording alias of Orlando Higginbottom, a London-based electronic artist born in 1986 and originally from Oxford. The project begins with a run of releases on Greco-Roman and develops a live reputation built around detailed dance music, unusual instruments, glitter cannons and dinosaur costumes.

Releases

The project debuts with the All In One Sixty Dancehalls EP in 2009, followed by All In Two Sixty Dancehalls EP in 2010 on Greco-Roman. The latter brings wider attention, especially through the track “Garden”. Early material is later collected on Prehistory I and Prehistory II, both released in 2011 on Greco-Roman. The debut album Trouble follows in 2012.

Career and recognition

Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs tours across America and Europe and also plays sold-out headline dates in the UK. The act appears at major summer festivals and builds a substantial remix catalogue that includes work on tracks by Lady Gaga, Friendly Fires and Professor Green. “Garden” is later reissued through Polydor with radio support and a sync placement for the Nokia Lumia campaign, and it becomes one of the project’s best-known tracks.

Collaboration

Higginbottom also travels to the Congo to work with local musicians as one of the producers invited to contribute to Damon Albarn and Oxfam’s DRC LP project.
