Titus Andronicus
Titus Andronicus are an American punk and indie rock group from Glen Rock, New Jersey, active since 2005. The band name comes from the Shakespeare play Titus Andronicus.
Line-up
The group includes Patrick Stickles, Liam Betson, Eric Harm, Amy Klein, Julian Veronesi, R.J Gordon and Chris Wilson. In the line-up described with the band’s recordings, Patrick Stickles handles vocals and guitar, Julian Veronesi plays bass, Liam Betson plays guitar and Eric Harm plays drums.
Sound and style
The band is associated with an energetic mix of punk, indie and folk-punk, with lo-fi production. Their sound also draws on New Jersey rock, early rock and roll and shoegaze-influenced distorted guitars.
Albums
Their debut album, The Airing of Grievances, is released on Troubleman Unlimited and later reissued by XL Recordings. The album’s titles and lyrics include references to books and other forms of entertainment, and its title comes from the Seinfeld episode “The Strike”. Their second album, The Monitor, is released through XL Recordings and receives wide critical acclaim, with recognition as one of the best indie albums of its year.
Membership changes
The band has a long list of former members, including Amy Klein, who leaves the group in 2011.
