These New Puritans
These New Puritans are an English music group from Southend-on-Sea, United Kingdom. The group forms around twin brothers Jack Barnett and George Barnett. Jack Barnett is the principal songwriter, vocalist, producer and multi-instrumentalist, while George Barnett plays drums and electronics and also works as a producer and on artwork. The group also includes Thomas Hein and Sophie Sleigh-Johnson.
History and membership
The band is active from 2005 to the present. Thomas Hein is an active member between 2006 and 2016, and Sophie Sleigh-Johnson is active between 2006 and 2010.
Style and recordings
Their music spans post-punk, indie, new rave and indie rock, and is also described in terms of avant-garde, experimental, experimental electronic, martial industrial, neoclassical dark wave and post-industrial. It is noted for blurring the boundary between rock, classical, electronic and experimental music.
These New Puritans record four studio albums: Beat Pyramid (2008), Hidden (2010), Field of Reeds (2013) and Inside the Rose (2019).
