therapy sessions is a drum and bass event brand and club night that begins in London in 2003, with its flagship event at Herbal in the East End. It develops into a network of regular nights across the UK and mainland Europe, including Bristol, Austria, Germany, Holland, Estonia, Spain and Russia, with residencies in Vienna, Hamburg, Leuven, Tallinn, Rotterdam and Spain.

Programming and residents

The London and Bristol nights feature a focus on dark, fresh and experimental drum and bass, with a roster that includes Dylan, Technical Itch, Loxy, Ink, Limewax, Skitty, SPL, Raiden, Bkey and Kryptic Minds. Special guests include UK artists such as Andy C, Bailey, Goldie, Pendulum, Red One, Storm and Trace, alongside international DJs and MCs including Panacea, Concord Dawn, Counterstrike, Dieselboy, Evol Intent, Hive, Mason, John Rolodex, Armanni, Jakes, Messinian, Manikular, Stirlin and System.

Associated rooms and formats

In London, the upstairs Boom Boom Room is hosted by Ayah, with Mattrick and XO, and plays hip hop, reggae, dub, breaks and ska, as well as alternative genre sets from drum and bass artists. In Bristol, a second room is hosted by the local drum and bass website Hijack, with alternating sets from Dylan and the Hijack Hoochies, and from Robyn Chaos and the Hijack Hunks.

Broadcasts and aims

therapy sessions also streams live on Bass Drive every month. Its stated purpose is to present darker and more experimental drum and bass, support UK talent in a midweek setting, and bring together artists from across the globe in a personal, informal atmosphere.
