The Zookeepers
The Zookeepers is a group name used by at least two bands. One version is a quartet from Yarmouth, Massachusetts, in the United States: Mike Hansen on vocals and guitar, Cooper Conley-Currier on vocals, bass and sampler, Patrick Belken on guitar, bass and keys, and Peter Fitzgerald on drums and keys. This group has been active since spring 2006 and describes its output as “exotic basement music”, with a style that often uses comedy within a post-punk framework. It writes, records and self-releases its own material, including seven albums, numerous EPs and a floppy disk single.
Their sound is associated with rock, experimental, synth-punk, post-punk and noise rock, and they are also categorised as alternative pop, art rock, avant-garde pop, experimental electronic and experimental rock. The group maintains a presence on Facebook, Bandcamp and MySpace.
Another act using the same name is a defunct rock’n’roll band from Los Angeles, California, which stops touring around 2000.
