The Writers

The Writers is a United States group associated with jazz, rock, indie, funk and alternative music. The line-up includes Frank Floyd, Ralph MacDonald, Harvey Mason, Hugh McCracken, Jeff Mironov, Jerry Peters and Anthony Jackson.

The group comes together through mutual friendships and a shared interest in different styles of music. It begins in November 2007, originally under the name The Cardboard Cut-outs, before the name is changed after it is found to already be copyrighted. The later name, The Writers, emerges from that change.

The group records its first track, Nite Life, with Green Records, and also works on a debut EP titled Eyes Dont Lie. The lineup story also includes a bassist, Jack, who joins early on and takes up bass for the first time, and a second guitarist, Jenny, who is added when the songs are felt to lack depth.
