The Winachi Tribe is a UK group active since 2015. It works across dance, electro-funk, funk, R&B and soul, and presents itself as a musical collective rather than a conventional genre-bound band.

Background

The group develops out of the Northern D.Funk collective China White. Its members are described as musicians and producers, and the act is built around a flexible, collaborative approach that crosses musical and cultural boundaries.

Style and influences

The Winachi Tribe’s sound draws on psychedelic funk, hip hop, hip hop-influenced rhythm patterns and electronic soul. The group is associated with the atmosphere of George Clinton, Massive Attack, The Happy Mondays and Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five, combining hypnotic beats with what is described as an expansive, lyrically driven style.
