The Weekend is a Canadian pop rock band from London, Canada. It is active from 1998 to the present and is associated with a trio line-up centred on Jason Pierce, with earlier material also identifying Andrea Wasse on vocals and guitar, Lorien Jones on vocals and bass, and Lincoln Cushman on keyboards.

History

The band forms in the summer of 1995, when Andrea Wasse and Lorien Jones meet Lincoln Cushman in London. Its self-titled debut full-length album is produced by Andy Magoffin at the House of Miracles and contains ten tracks. The record leads to the band spending 16 weeks in the Top Ten of campus radio charts nationwide.

Following that airplay, The Weekend opens for Green Day, Matthew Good Band, Big Sugar, 54:40 and Default. Its music also appears on television in episodes of Family Law, So Little Time, and the CBC series Our Hero.

Style and reception

The Weekend’s sound combines pop rock, vocal harmonies, keyboards, guitar and lyrics focused on personal themes. The band is described as an independent act with broad radio and online exposure in Canada, and its debut is also distributed in Australia by MGM Distribution.
