The Wanted

The Wanted are an English-Irish pop boy band formed in 2009 through nationwide auditions. The group is made up of Jay McGuiness, Max George, Nathan Sykes, Siva Kaneswaran and Tom Parker. They are based in England, United Kingdom, and remain active.

Formation and members

The line-up includes Jay McGuiness, from Nottingham; Max George, from Manchester; Nathan Sykes, from Gloucester; Siva Kaneswaran, from Dublin; and Tom Parker, from Bolton. The band forms through a series of auditions held across the country in 2009. Max George previously performs in Avenue, Siva Kaneswaran has experience as a model in advertising campaigns, and Nathan Sykes comes from the Sylvia Young acting school.

Sound and releases

The Wanted work in dance-pop, electropop and pop. They sign to Geffen Records in 2009. Their debut single, “All Time Low”, reaches number one on the UK singles chart in 2010, and their second single, “Heart Vacancy”, reaches number two. Their self-titled debut album reaches number four on the UK albums chart in October 2010.

Activity

The group is active from 2009 onwards. Tom Parker dies in 2022.
