The Victorian English Gentlemens Club
The Victorian English Gentlemens Club is an indie rock band from Cardiff, United Kingdom, formed in 2004. The group’s line-up centres on Adam Taylor, Louise Mason, James Griffiths and Emma Daman, with Heddwyn Davies also listed as a member in the band’s later configuration.
Formation and line-up changes
The band begins as a Cardiff-based project in 2004, formed by Taylor, Mason and drummer Emma Daman. In its early period, the group releases its initial singles and first two albums with that line-up. Daman leaves shortly after the recording of the second album, after which Taylor and Mason continue with temporary additions for touring.
For a subsequent tour, the band recruits guitarist Steph Jones and drummer Dan Lazenby. In early 2010, James Griffiths becomes the group’s full-time drummer. Later that year, Heddwyn Davies joins the band.
Releases
The Victorian English Gentlemens Club has released three albums: The Victorian English Gentlemens Club in 2006, Love on an Oil Rig in 2009, and Bag of Meat in 2011. The first two albums are released by the original Taylor, Mason and Daman line-up, while Bag of Meat follows the later changes in personnel.
Instrumentation
The listed roles in the band include Taylor on vocals and guitar, Mason on vocals and bass, Griffiths on drums, and Davies on viola and mandolin.
