The Vacant Lots

The Vacant Lots are an electronic, garage rock, indie rock, neo-psychedelia, post-punk and psychedelic rock group from Burlington, United States. The act is a duo consisting of Jared Artaud and Brian MacFadyen, and it has been active since 2010.

Style and approach

The band works with a minimalist and primitive form of rock and roll, combining synths and drum machines with a punk-edged approach to psychedelic rock. Its music is associated with the New York post-punk electro scene and with the broader new psychedelic movement.

Record releases and collaborations

The Vacant Lots release their debut album Departure through Sonic Cathedral. The album is mixed and mastered by Sonic Boom, formerly of Spacemen 3. Earlier releases appear on Mexican Summer and The Reverberation Appreciation Society, and the group also contributes to the Psych For Sore Eyes EP. Dean Wareham plays guitar on the track “Tomorrow”.

Associated artists

The band wins support from Alan Vega of Suicide, and it works with him. It also supports Dean Wareham on US East Coast dates and appears as guests of The Brian Jonestown Massacre on UK and European dates.
