The Touch

The Touch are a Swedish house trio based in Sweden and known for work that blends electronic music, indie, disco and club influences. The group forms in autumn 2006, when Olov and Johan, who are working in sunshine pop, meet Andreas, who has already been making house music for several years. Lina then joins the project, bringing a strong connection to the club scene, and the four begin making music together as an electronic act.

Formation and members

The Touch start as a quartet made up of Olov, Johan, Andreas and Lina. Their music develops from a mix of the members’ different backgrounds, with Andreas contributing house production experience and the others bringing pop and club-oriented ideas.

Sound and early recordings

Their early experiments draw on 1970s disco and use samples from Perversion for Profit style public-service material, alongside a tech house version of a Margo Guryan cover. Early tracks include “Heart of the City” and “Le Night Dominator”, which becomes one of their best-known songs.

Releases and label work

“Heart of the City” and “Le Night Dominator” attract the attention of DJ Nibc, who owns the dance label Trunkfunk. The label releases the group’s debut 12-inch single, “Xtra Energy”.

Performances and compilation appearance

The Touch perform at venues and events including Berns Salonger and Debaser in Stockholm, By:Larm in Oslo, La Flèche d’Or in Paris, Vega in Copenhagen, Fabric in London and Pachita in New York. “Sermon” later appears on Kitsuné Maison Compilation 11.
