The Standards

The Standards is the name of more than one act, including a Thai-Brit quintet based in Bangkok, a family vocal group, and a Swedish indiepop/rock band active in the 1990s.

Thai-Brit quintet

The Bangkok-based line-up includes Matt Smith on vocals, percussion and melodeon, Paul Smith on guitars and backing vocals, Manasnit Setthawong on synths, keys and backing vocals, Ayu Charuburana on drums, and Sithikorn “Mackey” Likitvorachai on bass. Matt Smith is described as a south-east London native, while Paul Smith is from Stevenage. The group also makes free tracks available through its official website.

Vocal group

Another group using the name is a five-brother vocal act built around close harmony and a cappella performance. The members are Morgan Williams, Nathan Williams, Jordon Williams, Nicholas Williams and Quinn Williams. They begin singing together at an early age and develop a style focused on vocal music without instruments, with choreography, comedy and audience interaction forming part of their shows.

The group shares the stage with acts including Lonestar, Manhattan Transfer and the Oak Ridge Boys. Their performances also include theatrical elements, such as a black-light presentation called the Mamba, as well as arrangements that feature the group gathered around a piano for original songs.

Swedish band

A separate Swedish indiepop/rock band also performs under the name The Standards and is active in the 1990s.
