The Simon Pollard Band is a four-piece country, pop and rock group from Leeds, United Kingdom. The band plays an alternate country rock style and draws on influences including Ryan Adams, Counting Crows, Kings of Leon, Simon and Garfunkel, Steely Dan and The Who.

Line-up

The band has undergone several line-up changes over a two- to three-year period, with Simon Pollard and David Robinson remaining constant members. The current line-up includes Simon Pollard on vocals, guitar and harmonica, David Robinson on bass, Liam Warner on drums, and Matt Lee on lead guitar. The group is also flexible enough to include trumpet or fiddle parts.

Releases and live activity

The band releases the EP The Dark Before Dawn, which appears at an EP launch party at Empire in Leeds. It also performs at Reading and Leeds Festivals after winning a place through the Futuresound competition, which selects six bands from more than 300 entrants. The group plays on the BBC Introducing Stage at the festivals.

Support slots and radio

After its festival appearances, the band plays support and co-headline shows in Leeds, including a co-headline performance with The 1930s at Milo's and support slots with The Jezabels at The Wardrobe, Dan Parsons, and Jake Morley. It also features on Alan Raw’s BBC Radio Leeds show, where it performs an exclusive live session and has its tracks played on several occasions.
