The Scams
The Scams are a Swedish rock and roll band from Sweden. The group forms around Danny Boy on vocals and guitars, Kriss Biggs on bass and Chuck The Beat on drums.
Formation and early activity
Danny and Chuck form the band in 2001, with the name and direction influenced by the film Oh Brother Where Art Thou. Their first gig takes place in 2002. The Scams come from different small towns and draw on a working background of rock and roll culture.
Style and influences
The Scams play rock and roll with influences from rockabilly, 1950s rock and 1970s punk. Their sound is compared with artists such as The Hurriganes, Rose Tattoo, Ramones, Devil Dogs and Eddie Meduza. The band is associated with hard rock and hard n heavy as well as rock.
Releases and collaborations
The band signs to Swedish label Zorch Productions and records several songs for release in the spring of 2007. A full-length album is also recorded for the same label. D Vacuum of The Accidents and Mr. Elfsten of The Pricks appear as guest performers on one of the songs.
Live reputation
The Scams are presented as a trio built around loud guitars, strong drums and rough-edged rock and roll performance. Their live identity centres on direct, high-energy shows and a party atmosphere.
