The Rumpled
The Rumpled are a Celtic punk band from Trento, Italy. Formed in 2013, they play a mix of Irish folk, rock, ska and punk, with accordion and violin at the centre of the sound alongside guitars, bass, drums and lead vocals.
Style and line-up
The band works as a six-piece ensemble. Tommy and Patty handle the accordion and violin, Davide plays guitar, Michele is on drums, Luca plays bass, and Marco is the frontman. Their sound is described through the combination of traditional Celtic instruments and punk and rock elements.
Releases
Their debut album, Ashes & Wishes, contains 11 tracks and appears in 2018. It is recorded and produced by Gianluca Amendolara of Black Dingo Productions, with support from the Upload Sounds platform. In 2019, the band releases the EP Grace O’Malley, inspired by the Irish leader and buccaneer Grace O’Malley. The release is preceded by the title track and gathers more than one million plays on Spotify.
Later in 2019, the band releases Let It Snow!, a cover of the Frank Sinatra song. They also share the Rumplugged Series on their official YouTube channel, presenting acoustic versions of Celtic songs.
Live activity
The band tours extensively in mainland Europe after its studio releases. The Ashes and Wishes tour runs for more than 60 shows across Switzerland, France and Italy. The Grace O’Malley tour ends in September 2019 after more than 40 performances around Europe. Their live dates include festival appearances such as Roi Arthur in Bréal-sous-Montfort, France.
Later work
The Rumpled complete recording a new studio release, and the Toss the Coin EP appears in March 2020. This is followed by a Saint Patrick’s tour, during which they share stages with The Rumjacks.
