The Rose

The Rose is a South Korean rock band from Seoul, active since 2017. The group consists of WOOSUNG, Dojoon, Hajoon and 재형, who is also known as Taegyeom and formerly Jaehyeong.

Formation and debut

The band debuts with the single album Sorry, released in 2017. The name refers to the idea of music combining the beauty of flowers with the sharpness of thorns, as described by WOOSUNG.

Members and roles

WOOSUNG plays vocals and electric guitar. Dojoon provides vocals and also plays keyboard and acoustic guitar. Hajoon plays drums and also contributes sub-vocals and rap. Taegyeom plays bass and is also credited as sub-vocalist, visual and maknae. The group also has English names used by the members: WOOSUNG as Sammy, Dojoon as Leo, Hajoon as Dylan and Taegyeom as Jeff.

Background details

WOOSUNG grows up in Los Angeles and starts making music after a football injury that requires surgery. Dojoon lives in New Zealand for five years and is a fan of Jason Mraz. He is also the main vocalist in Windfall, a band formed with Jaehyeong and Hajoon. Hajoon begins drumming at a young age and is a drum major in college; he is associated with friends in N.Flying. Taegyeom is known for being a strong cook, for liking Coldplay, and for watching Sing Street with the other members. Each member is also linked with a rose colour and meaning: white for WOOSUNG, red for Dojoon, blue for Hajoon and pink for Taegyeom.
