The Riptide Movement
The Riptide Movement is an Irish band that forms in 2006 and remains active. It works across grunge, funk, blues rock and blues-rock, and is associated in the input with Ireland rather than France.
Releases and chart activity
The band’s debut album, What about the tip jars, reaches the top twenty in 2009. Two singles from that period, Bringing down the House and Alive Inside, also enter the top twenty. The follow-up album Hot Tramp is prepared after time in the south of France and at Grouse Lodge recording studios. Its first single, Hard to explain, is released after a Dublin, Cork and Belfast tour with the Jim Jones Revue and spends three weeks in the Irish top 50.
Live work and tours
The Riptide Movement supports James Yuill, The Coronas, Jack L and The Blizzards. It also appears at Vantastival, Leixlip, Dunbrody, SeaSessions, Glasgowbury, the Volvo Ocean Race, Indiependence and Electric Picnic, and tours Germany in October 2010.
