The Rialto Burns

The Rialto Burns are a five-piece band from Liverpool playing new wave, post-punk and indie rock. The group takes its name from the former Rialto ballrooms, which were destroyed during the Toxteth riots of 1981 and became known through a newspaper headline. The band forms around that local reference point and the city’s music scene.

Line-up and formation

The band consists of Adam on vocals, Pottsy on bass, Alex and Cogsy on guitars, and Dan on drums. The members meet through a rekindling of old friendships and chance encounters on musicians’ forums. After developing their material and deciding on roles within the group, they begin performing live on the Liverpool circuit.

Recording and releases

After only a small number of gigs, The Rialto Burns attract the attention of record labels and sign to Gung-Ho Recordings, a dance and indie label that also works with The Japanese Popstars. Their first single, Radiate, is released in 2010. A second single, For The Asking, follows, and the band’s album Learning to Fight is set under that title.
