Releases and style

The Reasoning’s debut album, Awakening, appears in 2006 and includes a guest appearance from Steve Rothery of Marillion. It gains international critical attention. Dark Angel follows in 2008 and extends the band’s international audience. The band’s first single is a cover of Duran Duran’s The Chauffeur, which reaches No. 2 in the Amazon Download Chart in 2009. Their third studio album, Adverse Camber, appears in 2010 and is mixed by Joe Gibb, whose credits include Leftfield and Massive Attack. The album keeps the band’s vocal harmonies, melodies and twin-guitar approach while moving into new musical territory.

Live activity

The Reasoning tours widely across Europe and performs alongside Marillion and Fish on several occasions. The band is invited to open the final day of the inaugural High Voltage festival in London and plays before Joe Bonamassa, Opeth and ELP. A limited edition release, Acoustically Speaking, presents reworkings of songs from the studio albums and is promoted with acoustic shows organised by fans. The band also releases a first DVD, Highway to High Voltage, containing footage from the High Voltage performance and additional material. Press coverage includes Classic Rock, Record Collector and Powerplay.
