The Race
The Race is a Chicago indie rock band that forms in late 1999 and remains active. The group centres on Craig Klein, with Kevin Duneman on drums and vocals/guitarist Steve Art in the early line-up. Bassist Jeremy Parker joins before the end of 2002.
Early releases
The band issues a self-titled EP before the end of 1999, then follows it with its full-length debut, Chicago Ruins Everything, in 2000. Its second album, The Perfect Gift, appears in 2002, and the The Rose EP follows in 2004. The band’s fourth full-length album, Ice station, is released in 2007 on Flameshovel Records.
Background and related work
The Race develops a melodic pop style in Chicago during its early years. Kevin Duneman previously leaves Chisel Drill Hammer and also works with Slacker, Ativin and Telefon Tel Aviv. The band line-up named in the record is Craig Klein.
