The Point

The Point is an American college rock group from Livermore, United States, active from 1979 to 1986. It is associated with the 1980s US college rock scene and is tagged with power pop, rock, synthpop, pop, and Swedish pop.

The name is used for more than one act. One version is a side project involving Nicke Andersson of the Hellacopters and Canadian rock singer-songwriter Neil Leyton; that project records the 7-inch single Give It a Try. Another is a Santa Cruz-based reggae band formed in 2012 with Keoki on drums, Mark on vocals and guitar, Kaz on guitar, and Matt on bass. A third is a duo made up of Christopher Little and vocalist Sybil Syn, whose sound combines 1960s retro pop, synth-pop, and at times techno-house and drum and bass; that lineup releases the single “Dance Is The Nu Sex” in 1993 from the album Fingernoid Slink.
