The Paperboys

The Paperboys are a Canadian folk music band from Vancouver, active since 1991 and sometimes billed as Tom Landa and the Paperboys. The group blends Celtic folk with bluegrass, Mexican, Eastern European, African, zydeco, soul and country influences, and is known for writing songs with melodic hooks.

Line-up

The band has had a changing line-up over time. Tom Landa is the only founding member to remain in the group. Cam Salay, a founding banjoist and bassist, often returns as a guest performer. Other members include Geoffrey Kelly, Glenn Kruger, Paul Lawton, Steve Mitchell and Shannon Saunders.

Style and background

The Paperboys combine folk and Celtic rock elements with a broad range of other traditions, giving their music a mixed and versatile character. Their sound draws on several styles at once rather than staying within a single folk or rock format.
