The Outsiders

The Outsiders are a Dutch garage rock and beat group from Amsterdam, formed in 1960 as a neighbourhood band from Amsterdam East. They become one of the most successful Dutch groups of the 1960s and record a run of original material rather than other artists’ songs. Singer Wally Tax writes the lyrics and guitarist Ron Splinter writes the music for nearly all of the group’s twelve singles and three albums.

Line-up

The band includes Wally Tax on vocals, Ron Splinter on guitar, Appie Rammers on bass, Leendert Busch on drums, and Tom Krabbendam also on guitar.

Recording history

The Outsiders release twelve 45s and three LPs. Their catalogue is built around original songs, with Tax and Splinter providing most of the writing. They are associated with the Dutch 1960s beat scene and are also described as garage rock and psychedelic rock.
