The More I See

The More I See are a British metal group formed in Cambridgeshire in 2002. The band is led by guitarist Gizz Butt, who previously plays with cult punk band English Dogs and with the Prodigy. The current line-up includes Lee Churchill, Alex Cummins, Chad Sunderland, Peter Ellis, Gizz Butt and Gavin King.

Style and background

The More I See play technical thrash metal with a classic feel, modern production and some progressive elements. Their music combines heavy riffing, aggression, melody and prominent hooks, with a focus on precision and speed. The band’s sound draws on the punk and metal crossover associated with Butt’s earlier work, as well as the thrash metal revival.

The Wolves Are Hungry

The band’s debut album, The Wolves Are Hungry, receives strong critical praise and is described as a striking debut for a new UK metal band. Its songwriting is singled out as a key strength. Despite the positive reception, sales are disappointing and planned touring in Europe does not go ahead, while the band’s relationships with its German label, manager and agent break down.

The Unholy Feast

The second album, The Unholy Feast, is released on Transcend Records, with distribution through Cargo. It contains twelve tracks and is described as intense, fast and hook-driven, with no filler. The record is presented as a more direct and forceful continuation of the band’s thrash direction.

Line-up development

After the first album period, Butt returns to a faster musical approach and brings in drummer Spike T. Smith, who previously plays with Sacrilege and The Damned. The band then records the darker material that has been developing over several years, and later signs to Transcend Records for the release of The Unholy Feast.
