The Mavericks

The Mavericks are an American country music band from Miami, United States. Formed in 1989, the group is active from 1989 to the present and is associated with americana, country, neo-traditional country, progressive country and tex-mex, alongside rockabilly, rock and alt-country.

Band line-up

The group includes Raul Malo on vocals, Robert Reynolds on bass, Paul Deakin on drums and Eddie Perez on guitar. Former members include David Lee Holt, who plays guitar, Nick Kane, who also plays guitar, Ben Peeler and Jerry Dale McFadden.

Recognition and recordings

The Mavericks win Vocal Group of the Year at the Country Music Awards in 1995 and 1996. The band also receives a Grammy Award in 1996 for Best Country Performance by Duo/Group with Vocals. Their version of "Blue Moon" appears in the 1995 film Apollo 13.
