The Love Language
The Love Language is an indie rock group from Raleigh, North Carolina, active since 2008. The project begins after frontman Stuart McLamb’s first band, The Capulets, breaks up. Following a breakup with his girlfriend, McLamb goes through a period of heavy drinking and then returns to his parents’ house, where he starts recording a set of emotional demos. These songs are first intended for his ex-girlfriend and a small circle of friends, but they develop into a full recording project.
The group’s sound combines indie rock, lo-fi, indie, rock and soul influences with orchestral pop. It is described as working with heartfelt material and a sarcastic edge, with emphasis on the “rattle and hum” of its arrangement style.
Line-up
The Love Language includes Stuart McLamb on electric guitar and vocals, Missy Thangs on keyboard and vocals, Autumn Ehinger, and Thomas Simpson. Earlier line-ups also include Jordan McLamb on percussion and vocals, Justin Rodermond on bass guitar and vocals, and BJ Burton on electric guitar and vocals.
