The Limes

The Limes are a France-based indie rock group. They are described as a cross-border project that brings together musicians working across the Atlantic, with members exchanging material, interpreting it and recording it for one another. The group’s line-up includes Mina Tindle, alongside Toy Fight, Orouni, John Hale and Henry Sparrow.

Formation and approach

The project is built around the idea of sharing musical ideas between different countries and trusting each other to develop them into finished songs. That collaborative method is central to the band’s identity, with members contributing remotely and allowing ideas to move between them.

Other line-up information

The name The Limes is also associated with a Czech Republic band formed in Prague in 2007 by four school friends from Gymnázium Jana Keplera. In that incarnation, the main creative pair are Jakub Jirásek and Daniel Baše, with Štěpán Oves and Vojtěch Polák joining from September 2011. That group plans an initial five-song EP as its first recorded release.

Earlier use of the name

The Limes name also appears on an earlier band formed in 2000, with Shawn Cripps on guitar and vocals, Harlan T Bobo on bass, Nick d Ray on drums and Jack Yarber on second guitar. That line-up releases a single on Solid Sex Lovey Doll Records, later follows with a full-length album called Tarantula on Death Valley Records in Australia, and also issues a single on Nasty Products. A second full-length is described as being in progress.
