The Jude

The Jude is the London-based rock’n’roll project of singer-songwriter Michael Jude Christodal, who is also associated with Low Stars. Christodal is born in the United States in 1969. The act is credited with labels including Christodal Music, Uru Music and Maverick.

Music and releases

The Jude’s sound is described as “vicious skiffle”, with a punchy, energetic style intended for dancing. Its debut release, Ha Ha Goodbye, reaches number 8 in the iTunes Alternative Chart in April 2011. The single gains radio support and playlisting from XFM, with John Kennedy, Steve Lamacq and Gary Crowley among those who champion it.

Follow-up single Les Filles Francaises receives airplay on BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music and XFM, as well as video rotation on NME TV. It is named Record of the Day, features in Music Week Presents, and is Huw Stephens’ “Tip of the Week” on Tom Robinson’s BBC Introducing show. In February 2012 it is added to the BBC Radio 1 playlist for a week and played by Fearne Cotton, Scott Mills, Dev, Greg James, Huw Stephens, Edith Bowman, Nick Grimshaw and Annie Mac.

The final single, Heartbreaker, is released in March 2012 and is described by XFM as “excellent”.
