The Invisibles

The Invisibles are a group from Barra Mansa, in Rio de Janeiro state, Brazil, formed in 1996. They play melodic hardcore, with material that also moves through alternative rock, punk rock and pop, and they are also associated with ska and skate punk.

History and releases

The band records two demo tapes before signing to the independent Rio de Janeiro label Urubuz Records, which distributes its two albums. Its first album, Summer, appears in 2001. It is noted in year-end lists by specialist music outlets and is named as a revelation of 2002 by readers of Rock Press. Tracks from the album appear on compilations in Japan, the United States, Canada, Russia, the Netherlands and Poland.

The second album, Fireworks, appears in 2004 and features 12 songs in English. It is produced by Stanley Zvaig, whose credits include Los Hermanos, Carbona, Rivets and Jason. The record also includes guest appearances by Daniel Develly of PELVs on moog, Rev. Albuquerque, formerly of Canvas, on melodica, Sketch on keyboards, Pedrão on trumpet, and Flávio Corrêa of DKV on trombone.
