The Holloways
The Holloways are an indie rock group from London, active from 2004 to 2011. Their line-up includes Dave Danger, Rob Skipper, Bryn Fowler, Alfie Jackson and Edwin Harris. The band’s final line-up features David “Alfie” Jackson on vocals and guitar, Bryn Fowler on bass and Edwin Harris on drums.
Career
The Holloways form in London in 2004 and later split in 2011. Their early rise includes a critically noted debut album, So This Is Great Britain?, and a period in 2007 when they play sold-out shows across the UK. During that time, singles such as “Dance Floor”, “Generator” and “Two Left Feet” receive radio play.
In 2008, the band records new material at Sawmills Studio, but plans for wider release are affected by a legal dispute involving their former US label TVT. Later that year, a fire at their home base, Nambucca, destroys much of what they have there, which leads founding members Dave and Rob to feel the band may be finished. Alfie and Bryn decide to continue, and in 2009 the group starts writing and recording again.
Reformation and later work
In 2009, Alfie and Bryn begin looking for new members and quickly add guitarist Mike Baker and drummer Edwin Harris. The group then records three new songs and returns to gigging. That year they also tour the UK, promoting No Smoke, No Mirrors, and close the tour with a 36-date run across five weeks. They also support Shed Seven on seven dates of that tour and release a video for the single “Jukebox”.
The Holloways also appear on Big Brother’s Little Brother and are invited back for an eviction-night appearance. In 2010 they continue performing, including appearances at a number of events and charity shows, before the band ends in 2011.
