The Heads
The Heads are a British stoner rock and heavy psych group formed in Bristol in 1990. The line-up centres on Paul Allen, Wayne Maskell, H.O. Morgan and Simon Price. The band is associated with stoner rock, heavy psych, jam band and psychedelic rock, and releases material on Rooster.
Style and early development
The band builds a loud, fuzz-heavy sound shaped by influences including Loop, Spacemen 3 and The Stooges. They develop a following through underground shows in Bristol, including gigs in local post-war prefabs.
Releases and radio sessions
The Heads release their debut EP, The Quad EP, in 1994 on Rooster Rock. They also record John Peel Sessions for BBC Radio 1 between 1995 and 2000, which help establish their reputation within the UK heavy-psych underground.
Their studio albums include Relaxing With... and Everybody Knows We Got Nowhere, both of which are regarded as key releases in their catalogue.
