The Garifuna Collective is a Belizean Punta ensemble that first arose for the 2007 album, Wátina, by Andy Palacio & The Garifuna Collective. One of the most praised world music albums ever released, and with Palacio on the cusp of tremendous fame, he passed away suddenly a year after Wátina was released. The Garifuna Collective has continued where Palacio left off, with Wátina producer Ivan Duran at the helm. With a lineup that consists of the best musicians in the fertile Garifuna music scene, The Garifuna Collective produces songs inspired by their unique Afro-Amerindian cultural heritage.
