1) An indie rock band from Toronto/Guelph (Canada) 2) Acoustic pop/folk band from Hertford, Britain (UK) 3) Noise Metal From E. Ky 1) Hailing from Toronto/Guelph, Ontario, The Folk are a Canadian anthemic rock band. Twin sisters, Emma and Sara, along with their best friends, Mark, Liam, and Patrick have come together to create a strong live experience. This five-piece line-up performs with soulful and harmonic guy-girl vocals, two lead guitars, moody synthesizers and a highly accented bass-and-drum section. The Folk have had the pleasure of sharing the stage with great Canadian talent such as Library Voices, Michou, Sheezer, Whale Tooth, Ben Caplan, Patrick McCauley & the Wandering Bones, and many more awesome bands. On top of POP Montreal, The Folk have also played the Hillside Music Festival, Canadian Music Week and Toronto Indie Week. Their songs have been featured on Toronto Internet-based television shows, Poser and The Avenue. Their newest EP, “You Say, I Say” released this past winter has received rave reviews across Canada from The Vancouver Music Review, The Indie Machine, and Toronto’s very own ghost-writer, The Lonely Vagabond. They also received their first ever US review coming from Chicago’s QRO magazine. With their new EP, “You Say, I Say” just released, The Folk just wrapped up recording for their new and upcoming release for their friends and fans this summer. 2) The Folk consists of three girls, Lucy Holmes (16) writing lyrics and singing, Lauren Deakin Davies (17) playing acoustic, electric and bass guitar, mandolin and ukulele, Rose Goodship (17) playing ukulele and singing back vocals. They started as four, and since June 2012 they are moving forward as three. Their musical tastes range from Florence to Laura Marling, Mumfords to Bellowhead and Fleet Foxes, Foster the People and Bon Iver.
