The Fiend

The Fiend are a UK punk and hardcore punk group from Tyne and Wear, associated with the UK82 scene and d-beat. They form in South Shields, near Newcastle, and their sound is heavily influenced by Discharge.

Early activity and releases

The band first appears in 1984 on Conflict’s Mortarhate label compilation LP We Won’t Be Your Fucking Poor. Within a year, they release their first four-track 7-inch EP, Stand Alone, on Endangered Musik. That record becomes highly sought after by punk collectors.

Live work and scene connections

During the early 1980s, The Fiend play with a wide range of UK punk and anarcho-punk acts, including Icons Of Filth, Conflict and The Alternative. The group later splits in the late 1980s.

Later years

The Fiend reform in later years and tour across the UK and Europe. They release their first full-length album, The Brutal Truth, and continue as an active punk band from the north-east of England.
