The Feeling

The Feeling are an English rock and pop group from Horsham, United Kingdom, active from 2005. The five-piece line-up consists of Dan Gillespie Sells, Ciaran Jeremiah, Kevin Jeremiah, Richard Jones and Paul Stewart.

Style and influences

The band work in indie pop, rock and soft rock, and are associated with a melodic, easy-listening approach. Their writing and sound draw on 1970s progressive pop and related acts, including 10cc, Supertramp, Pilot, Buggles, Queen and Stackridge. They also perform covers of songs by artists they admire in live shows.

Early success

The Feeling first release Fill My Little World appears in late 2005. Their single Sewn follows in 2006 and enters the UK Top 10. It becomes one of the year’s major radio hits after first being played on BBC Radio 2. Their debut album, Twelve Stops and Home, comes out in 2006 and is issued in the United States in 2007.

Albums and later work

The band’s second album, Join With Us, appears in 2008. They then release Together We Were Made in 2011, preceded by Set My World on Fire. Their later albums include Boy Cried Wolf in 2013, The Feeling in 2016 and Loss. Hope. Love. in 2022.

Concept album

Twelve Stops and Home is presented as a concept album centred on lost and unrequited love. Its narrative follows a relationship breakup, moving through the main character’s emotional decline, drinking for comfort and eventual return home.
