The Ethical Debating Society is a UK alternative group active since 2009. It begins as a pseudonym for Tegan, who writes anti-love songs on a hooty piano, before developing into a full band. After a number of line-up changes, the group includes Tegan on vocals and guitar, Kris on guitar, and Rob on drums; Rob is also associated with Tall Stories. The band also includes Lauren Darling, Rob Macabre, Chris Morris, Eli Tupa and Thee Citizen.

The Ethical Debating Society are described as sounding like Sonic Youth covering Spice World on a found cassette tape.
