The Emperor Machine
The Emperor Machine, also known as Emperor Machine, is an alias used by Staffordshire, UK musician, producer and remixer Andy Meecham, who also records as Sir Drew. The project works in electro, italo-disco and tech house, and is described in the input as an italo disco and downtempo pseudonym.
Releases and output
The first release under this name is the 12-inch Pro Mars / SH3A, issued by DC Recordings in May 2003. Another early release is Aimee Tallulah is Hypnotised, also on DC Recordings. The project then develops a series called Vertical Tones and Horizontal Noise, which runs from volumes I to VI and later expands into an album of its own.
Remixing
As a remixer, The Emperor Machine is associated with The Rapture’s How Deep is Your Love? (Emperor Machine Remix Edit), which appears on DFA in August 2011.
Style and description
The project is presented as a synthesiser-led electronic identity built around EMS VCS3 and Roland System 100 sounds, with a strong connection to disco-influenced club music and downtempo textures.
