The Emerald Dawn

The Emerald Dawn are a neo-progressive rock group based in Cornwall, United Kingdom. They are a multi-instrumentalist band with a symphonic progressive rock sound, and their line-up includes Jayjay Quick, David Greenaway, Ally Carter, Tom Jackson and Tree Stewart.

Origins and line-up

The band begins in Edinburgh, where Tree Stewart and Ally Carter form the original duo. Stewart plays keyboards, piano, flute, acoustic guitar, percussion and vocals, while Carter plays electric and acoustic guitars, guitar synthesizer, tenor and soprano saxophones, keyboards and vocals. After the move south to England, drummer Tom Jackson joins the group, and the band later operates from West Cornwall.

Recording work

The Emerald Dawn record their debut album, Searching for the Lost Key, as a trio. The album is pressed in limited CD quantities, and Tree Stewart creates the artwork. Their music is described as expansive and heavily influenced by classic British progressive rock, with particular associations to the styles of Pink Floyd and Steve Hackett.
