The Dreadnoughts

The Dreadnoughts are a Vancouver-based Canadian folk-punk group active since 2007. They combine celtic punk, folk punk, polka and rock with wider European folk traditions and modern street punk. Their sound brings together sea shanties, Irish melodies and high-energy punk, with arrangements built around fiddle, accordion, mandolin, tin whistle, guitars and drums.

Background

The group forms in East Vancouver and develops its early live reputation in local dive bars. It begins by supporting The Real McKenzies, a celtic-punk group, and builds a following through intense, chaotic performances.
