The Dog Days of Summer
The Dog Days of Summer are a country, rock, folk and bluegrass-influenced band formed in Norwich in 2006. The name comes from the hot summer period when the group first comes together after a night in a local pub. The band initially practises for about a year and a half and plays widely around Norwich before breaking up in 2007.
Reformation and line-up
The group reforms in 2009 after another pub night, this time with a slightly changed line-up. At that point, Jasmin joins on bass, Dan moves from bass to guitar, Jo focuses on mandolin and Neil plays banjo. Jasmin later leaves in July 2010 and Paul Meek replaces them on bass.
Style and repertoire
The Dog Days of Summer mainly perform covers, giving them their own twist. Their set draws on material they can play with a fun, informal approach, and they also start working on original songs.
Members
The listed line-up is Jo Emma May on vocals and mandolin, Neil Elsegood on vocals and guitar, Handsome Dan Senter on guitar, and Paul Meek on bass. Earlier line-up changes include Dan moving from bass to guitar and Neil taking up banjo.
