The Dirty Chimes
The Dirty Chimes are a rock and indie-electro band from Guildford and the London area. The group forms around Jonty on lead vocals and guitar, Will on synths, and Alex on drums.
Band profile
The band is active in the Camden circuit and appears in competitions across the country. In its first year, it plays venues including The Fly, Rhythm Factory, The Half Moon Putney, the Bull and Gate, Ginglik and Bullet Bar. It also performs at the London showcase of the BritBus tour at the O2 Academy Islington, where a small number of acts are selected from a much larger pool of applicants.
Members
Jonty leads the band with vocals and guitar. Will contributes the synthesiser parts that shape the group’s electro-influenced sound. Alex plays drums and brings a strong rhythmic role to the music; he has many years of experience and holds grade eight in drumming.
Style and influences
The band’s sound is described as indie-electro, with synth-led arrangements and a live-band emphasis. Jonty’s vocal and guitar style is associated with artists including Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Buckley and Mick Jagger, while his appearance is compared with Russell Brand, Noel Fielding and Keith Richards. Alex’s drumming is linked to Keith Moon and John Bonham.
