The Defekters
The Defekters are a UK psychedelic, reggae, dub, ska and punk group based in London, with roots in Stevenage. The four-piece forms from musicians who know each other from years on the local music scene.
Line-up
The band consists of Cara-Jane Murphy on vocals and lyrics, Dan Andrews on drums, Luke Stevens on bass and Rich Norman on guitar.
Live activity
The Defekters perform at a range of UK venues and festivals. They appear alongside acts including Zion Train, NOFX, The Skints, Gentleman's Dub Club, Jimmy Cliff and King Prawn. Their live history includes the Jazz Cafe in Camden for the London International Ska Festival, main stage slots at Beatherder Festival and Silverstone Moto GP, and appearances at Boomtown Fair, Sunrise and Alchemy festival. They also have a live set on BBC Introducing in the UK and receive airplay on internet radio stations around the world.
Recordings
The group releases two EPs, Rise Up and Violated.
