The Commercial Hippies

The Commercial Hippies are a South African psytrance group made up of Anton Raubenheimer and Gareth Tacon. The pair begin by DJing breakbeat at parties around Cape Town before moving into production and forming the act.

Career

Their first track, Where Dreams Come From, attracts attention from trance listeners and appears on the Clarity compilation from Nano Records in 2003. They then build a reputation with releases including Dr. Freakenstein, One Step and When the Shit Hits the Fan.

Their debut album, If You Can't Stand the Heat..., appears on Nano Records in 2006. A second album, From Beyond, follows in 2009. The group continues to perform internationally and work within the full-on and psychedelic trance scene.
